Gary Luedecke
Sound Engineer
Gary Luedecke is a 48-year veteran of the audio engineering and music industry, known for his exceptional talent in live sound mixing, recording, and sound reinforcement. His illustrious career has taken him around the world, working with iconic artists such as Mickey Gilley, The SOS Band, Joe Ely, The Flatlanders, Del Castillo, Alejandro Escovedo, and Bob Schneider, among many others.
Gary served as the Chief Audio Engineer for the City of Austin, where he provided top-tier AV production and video conferencing for over 15 years. His expertise in audio engineering, paired with his dedication to delivering high-quality sound experiences, has cemented his reputation as one of the most reliable and skilled professionals in the industry.
Gary’s passion for music started in his hometown of Galveston, TX, where he was influenced by the music of the 50s, 60s, and 70s. After trying his hand at various instruments, he found his true calling behind the soundboard at the age of 19, mixing sound for a friend’s band. Since then, Gary has pursued his craft with dedication and excellence, earning him opportunities to work with some of the biggest names in the music business.
Though retired from touring, Gary continues to share his expertise as a freelance audio engineer and through local gigs, including playing bass guitar with The Gypsy Drifters in Elgin, TX. Alongside his partner Molly Alexander, he also owns and operates Elgin Drygoods and The Owl, two beloved local shops in Elgin.
As the sound engineer for the Elgin Music Festival’s main stage, Gary brings unmatched experience, precision, and passion, ensuring every performance is delivered with flawless audio quality. His deep love for music and commitment to the craft make him an indispensable part of the festival team.
